PM ponders Covid isolation advice

The Prime Minister says any relaxation of COVID19 isolation conditions is up to the experts.
The borders reopen completely with no restrictions from 11:59 pm on Sunday for all visa categories including tourist, visitor and student visas.
The maritime border will also open to foreign-flagged vessels including cruise ships.
Jacinda Adern says any Government decision on whether to cut the self-isolation time for people with Covid from seven to five days matters will be based on the advice of officials and experts.
“They look at emerging evidence, around infectiousness and periods of infectiousness as they relate to variances. They also look at our case rates, what tolerance there is for there being any increase in the potential of cases growing and so those are the kinds of factors they have looked at to date, ” she says.
There were 9686 new cases of Covid-19 reported today and 47 deaths.
Over the past week, there have been 2612 cases picked up at the border, just over 4 percent of all active cases.
All members of parliament returned to the House today after a three break.
