Doctors share indigenous knowledge across Pacific

Māori public health and wellbeing leader Hapai Te Hauora are in Vancouver, Canda for the Pacific Region Indigenous Doctors Conference 2022.
Hapai general manager Janell Dymus-Kurei says the conference is for indigenous doctors and medical professionals from around the world to share research and connect.
Ms Dymus-Kurei says this year’s gathering covers medical health, youth health, traditional health and pre and post-natal health.
She says its a chance to take home some valuable knowledge from our indigenous whanau across the world.
“The beauty of it is there’s so much indigenous knowledge to share and the challenge here, specifically for our doctors is how we occupy those white spaces but continue to indigenise our own spaces as well,” Ms Dymus-Kurei says.
Janell Dymus-Kurei says Hapai Te Houora will be presenting some of their findings on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.
