Covid reports needed to shape pandemic action
The Health Ministry is concerned people aren’t reporting when they have Covid.
John Whaanga, its deputy director of Māori, says the messaging about isolating once you have Covid has got through, but reporting is still important.
“That’s what we are tracking day by day, week by week to see how things are going. You would have seen recently there has been a sharp rise in cases for instance, and it’s really important as many people as possible report their results because it helps us plan and looks at whether or not we need to be doing things differently or providing more support around the country,” he says.
There were 9816 new Covid cases reported over the past day and 50698 active cases in the community.
