Matariki lights draw people back to Auckland CBD

Matariki celebrations are underway in Tāmaki Makaurau
Ataahua Papa, the director of Matariki ki te Manawa, says there’s events scheduled up to July 16 including live performances, kai stalls and light shows.
There are light sculptures and displays along Queen St and the Matariki star cluster is being projected on to Britomart Station.
She says there’s room for more.
“People can look for me an send emails about what they would like to see and we will put it in the mix and see what we can come up with to make our city more vibrant and bring people back to the downtown area and give them something to look at and something to do,” Ms Papa says.
