Tribal leader for Waikato business hall of fame

The Waikato Chamber of Commerce is inducting the late Sir Robert Mahuta into its Business Hall of Fame.
Dairy industry giant Sir Dryden Spring will also be inducted at the ceremony in September.
Chamber CEO Don Good says they were both transformative leaders.
He says Sir Robert’s legacy has forever shaped the direction of the country, and the Waikato business community still reveres him and the legacy he left behind.
Sir Robert was a long serving member of the Tainui Māori Trust Board and a lead negotiator for the Waikato Raupatu Claim and the Māori Fisheries Claim.
He also set up the centre for Māori Studies and Research at the University of Waikato.
