Evaluation finds PGF boost for Māori

More than $1.8 billion has so far been paid out from the $3 billion Provincial Growth Fund, resulting in over 16,000 jobs and improved economic outcomes for regions.
Economic and Regional Development Minister Stuart Nash today released an evaluation report by economists Allen + Clarke during a visit to the Mihiroa Marae in Hastings, which recently completed renovation work funded through the PGF.
He says it shows the PGF has had strong benefits for Māori communities.
Training programmes which are supporting people into employment, and almost 7000 young people, including many not previously in employment, education or training, have participated in work skills programmes.
More than 500 of the 1359 projects funded have already been completed.
