The Māori Party has completed its process of generational renewal by electing John Tamihere to replace Che Wilson as president.
The Māori Party has completed its process of generational renewal by electing John Tamihere to replace Che Wilson as president.
The Waipareira chief executive and former Labour MP was the sole candidate at this week’s special general meeting.
Mr Wilson says he was stepping down to put more time and energy into his whanau and business.
Mr Tamihere acknowledged the work of Mr Wilson and his fellow executive members to raise the party from the ashes after it lost all its parliamentary seats in 2017.
