Awesome speechmaking at regional Manu Kōrero
Covid and influenza have knocked the Taitokerau regional finals of the Manu Kōrero speech championships in Dargaville.
Event coordinator Winnie Clark says audience numbers had to be limited to keep within the orange settings.
Despite that there has been some great speechmaking.
“We can just see what is happening out there in our kura in terms of promoting te reo Māori and promoting English as well. Awesome korero, awesome topics, awesome everything, so it is really going well, and they really are the cream of the crop for Ngāpuhi, for Te Rarawa, Ngāti Kahu, for Muriwhenua, all of use,” Ms Clark says.
The competition ends today.
