Trade critical in Arden-Biden hui

National Party leader Christopher Luxon hopes the Prime Minister’s meeting with United States President Joe Biden leads to increased trade.
Jacinda Ardern is set to meet Mr Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris on Wednesday New Zealand time.
Mr Luxon says New Zealand’s wealth depends on trading with the world.
“Over the last few years, we have seen Australia has got a free trade agreement with America. Australia’s just during Covid got a free trade agreement with India. New Zealand frankly and our ministers haven’t been out and about in the world sufficiently and so it’s great she’s out there and what we’ve got to see off the back of it is not just the photo opportunity but real improvements in trade with America which will be important,” he says.
Chris Luxon says with China expanding its interest in the Pacific, Foreign Affairs Minister Nanaia Mahuta should also be meeting with the president.
