Reti boiling over corporate climate subsidies

National Party health spokesperson Shane Reti says the Government should make large companies pay more for their climate change obligations.
Mr Reti says in general National supports the emission reduction targets and the plans released yesterday.
But not making corporates pay their share leads to wasteful spending such as subsidies to remove coal-fired boilers, which a National government would address.
“We’re concerned corporates who should be doing this as part of their business may bell be receiving significant government handouts. The leaser (Christopher Luxon) has framed that as being corporate carbon welfare. We’re concerned this may be one part of the reductions plan that isn’t wise spending,” Dr Reti says.
