Settings favour rich white migrants

Greens co-leader Marama Davidson says the immigration reset announced last week entrenches a two-tier system.
She says it favours high income migrants while keeping low wage workers in a precarious immigration state.
The racist impact can be seen in areas like nursing and the aged care sector.
“Those workers who are predominantly from browner-skinned countries, particularly in aged care the Filipino community, for example, we are saying to them please come and work but don’t you dare set up roots here. We are saying to other high income earning jobs from predominantly fair-skinned countries, yes, come and work and we favour you to be putting down roots in Aotearoa,” Ms Davidson says.
She says the settings fail to address the real value of essential work, and they also ignore obligations to our Pacific neighbours.
