All waka rise in Luxon economic formula

Opposition leader Christopher Luxon says he doesn’t have any Māori-specific initiatives in mind if he was delivering this week’s Budget – but National Party policies will benefit Māori.
Mr Luxon heads into the week claiming Labour is spending wastefully, and it needs to take a line by line approach to whether its projects are effective.
He says the disparities between Māori and non-Māori are shameful and need action.
“The way to deal with it, as Māori say themselves in their own surveys, what’s the number one issue for all New Zealanders? The cost of living crisis. It’s even higher for Māori. The number two issue – housing. So those are the same issues, so it really gets back to good economic management, how do we grow this economy,” Mr Luxon says.
Christopher Luxon says the country needs investment in education, infrastructure and a more business-friendly environment so companies can grow, which might lead to higher wages and salaries.
