Seymour dangerous to Māori says Jackson
Māori Development Minister Willie Jackson says David Seymour is the most dangerous man in New Zealand politics.
Mr Jackson has called the ACT leader a useless Māori for his call for scrapping Te Puni Kōkiri, the Māori Health Authority, the Women’s Ministry every other government agency with a Māori, ethnic or minority kaupapa.
He says Mr Seymour has already shown he is willing to put Māori lives at risk, as with his stunt last year releasing the codes Te Whānau o Waipareira was using to give priority for whānau Māori in the vaccine rollout.
“He thought it was a big laugh – ethnicity doesn’t count in terms of vaccinations, it’s ethnicity neutral. Of course, we know that’s not true. Māori are 50 times more liable to die if they get Covid. Those are the stats we are talking about. This guy undermined the whole process last year,” Mr Jackson says.
He says it wasn’t for Māori organisations the vaccine campaign would have been far less successful.
