There will be $114.5 million in next week’s Budget to prevent and respond to family violence and sexual violence.
The four-year funding includes $38.1 million boosts for community-led integrated responses and $37m to strengthen existing initiatives in Māori and Pacific communities and to develop new initiatives for ethnic communities, older people, and youth.
There’s also almost $10 million for services for victims and perpetrators of family violence.
Minister Marama Davidson says it’s a major milestone for the implementation of Te Aorerekura, New Zealand’s first ever strategy to end family violence and sexual violence.
