Māori feature in housing infrastructure bids

Kāinga Ora says almost a third of the 35 applications through to the final stage of the Infrastructure Acceleration Fund are co-led with Māori or have Māori as key partners.
The $1 billion funds is designed to help councils fund infrastructure to enable housing development in areas of need.
Kāinga Ora commercial group general manager Caroline McDowall says although final negotiations are yet to be completed, indications are the funding could unlock anywhere from 25,000 to 35,000 dwellings.
Fourteen proposals are for developments in major cities, with the remaining 21 in other areas throughout the country.
One proposal to enable an additional 400 homes at Kenepuru Landing in Porirua, including essential public and affordable housing, has already been fast tracked.
