Te Pūtahitanga ramps up Omicron support
The chief executive of the South Island Whānau Ora Commissioning Agency Te Pūtahitanga o Te Waipounamu says any complacency over Covid-19 has gone as Te Waipounamu deals with the force of the Omicron outbreak.
Canterbury District Health Board has the highest number of active cases at 9330, followed by the Southern District Health Board with 6955.
Helen Leahy says while other regions may be opening up, whānau in the south need to treat the Orange setting with caution.
“We’re still fighting to ensure people remain vigilant, that they take precautions and just watch their own health and well being because what they may think is just a headache could b the virus that we have been confronting for so long,” she says.
Te Pūtahitanga has distributed 134,000 RAT tests and 56,000 PPE kits in the last fortnight.
There has been big demand for Wellness Packs with kai being the number one need along with firewood and warm clothing as winter hits.
