Retiring Labour list, MP Louisa Wall has been appointed Ambassador for Gender Equality (Pacific)/Tuia Tāngata.
Foreign Minister Nanaia Mahuta says Aotearoa New Zealand is committed to lifting its engagement with its Pacific partners on gender equality, including support for increased representation of women in leadership, politics and decision-making.
She says Ms Wall’s extensive experience in community engagement, sports diplomacy, LGTBQI+ rights, and women’s participation makes her uniquely suited to the new role, which starts in May.
