Team Tolley keeps hold of Tauranga reins

Tauranga’s Urban Taskforce is welcoming a decision to extend the term of commissioners running the city out to 2024.
Chair Scott Adams says the decision by Local Government Minister Nanaia Mahuta was based on feedback from the majority of Tauranga residents and ratepayers.
He says the kind of active collaboration between iwi representatives, the business community and council staff established over the past year could not have occurred without leadership committed to transformative change.
Leaving commissioners Anne Tolley, Stephen Selwood, Shadrach Rolleston and Bill Wasley in the job for another two years will allow them to bed down their work and provide certainty.
Mr Adams says for too long development of city infrastructure was stalled by a dearth of council leadership, with too many elected councillors sitting on their hands out of fear of losing the next local body election.
