Strike injunction angers health workers

The Public Service Association is accusing district health boards of playing heavy-handed legal games.
DHBs have asked the Employment Court for an injunction to stop Friday’s strike by up to 10,000 scientific, technical and allied workers.
PSA organiser Will Matthews says the union will be in court tomorrow fighting it, and planning for the strike continues.
“The reaction from our members has been one of deep anger and disappointment. This is a workforce of exhausted, overworked, underpaid and undervalued people who now see clearly their employers rather take them to court than have a conversation with them about fair pay.” he says.
Will Matthews says the DHB’s choice of the stick rather than the carrot won’t resolve the dispute.
