Anti-vax protest digs in on Auckland Domain

Anti-vaccination protesters have ramped up their occupation strategy, with encampments forming at the Pukekawa pa site in the Auckland Domain and in New Plymouth on a park next to the Wind Wand on the coastal walkway.

Auckland police say they are monitoring the occupation, which formed after about 3000 people marched over the Harbour Bridge demanding an end to vaccine mandates by March 1.

The occupiers claim to have mana whenua over the site.

That’s disputed by Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei chair Marama Royal, who say the occupation will only increase the risk of spreading infection and misinformation.

There were 14,941 new cases of COVID-19 reported in the community yesterday.
