South Auckland frontline in the Covid war
Mangere MP and Pacific Peoples Minister Aupito William Sio says South Auckland is the frontline of the battle against Covid.
There will be more details tomorrow on the new lot of targeted Omicron support for Māori and Pasifika.
Mr Sio says it will include more resources for on the ground providers.
There were 2377 new cases reported today, and he expects they will continue to rise towards the 5000 a day mark.
“What I’m seeing is there are people who are infected who have not been vaccinated or only single dose, and those who are not yet boosted, so the message still is vaccination is one of the key things to battling Omicron and particularly the boosters,” Minister Sio says.
He says the effort is being put into identifying the most vulnerable who need extra care and support.
