Ngāti Toa has joined Taranaki Whānui in condemning anti-mandate protestors who’ve occupied Parliament Grounds for 10 days.
Chief executive Helmut Modlik says iwi members administering Covid tests and vaccines have been threatened and abused.
“We understand the mamae and we are supportive absolutely of peaceful protest but we would call on everyone who is stepping over the line to step back,” he says.
Ngāti Toa has also told the protesters not to use its haka, Ka Mate.
Mr Modlik says the authorities should open dialogue with protestors.
