Canterbury hits Covid mark but tamariki lag
Canterbury has become the third DHB to fully vaccinate more than 90 per cent of eligible Māori.
It joins Auckland and Capital and Coast Health in reaching that mark.
The total Māori first dose rate is 89 per cent and 85 per cent second dose.
There were 13,995 paediatric doses administered yesterday, bringing the total to 124,155 or 26 percent of the 5 to 11 age group.
However the coverage of tamariki Māori is just 14 percent.
There were 45 new cases of Covid-19 in the community reported today.
34 were confirmed as the Omicron variant or linked to an Omicron case, bringing the Omicron total to 90.
Yesterday five people in Auckland who attended the Soundsplash music festival in Hamilton over the weekend tested positive for COVID-19.
Anyone who attended the festival is asked to self-monitor for symptoms for ten days up to Wednesday, February 2.
