A Kaitaia man has been left scratching his head as to how he got Covid-19.

Hori Nathan, who works on an orchard near Houhora, got the positive diagnosis after losing his sense of smell and taste last Wednesday.

He’s vaccinated, as is his partner who also showed symptoms, as did their pēpi.

He says his boss and fellow workmates then also tested positive.

“I was scratching my head when I found out because I am a pretty quiet fellow, I don’t shop around much, and may go to the store to get a drink or do my grocery shopping, but other than that I just stay low and head up north fishing and that, so I am scratching my head as to how I even got it,” Mr Nathan says.

He expects to know more once the genome sequencing results come in.
