Tamaki to be held in prison for 10 days

Destiny Church leader Brian Tamaki has been remanded in custody for 10 days.

This follows his appearance this afternoon in the Auckland District Court via video link from Mt Eden Remand Prison where he was incarcerated this morning after being arrested on breach of bail charges.

The hearing was closed to the public, including a reporter from Radio Waatea, due to COVID-19 restrictions.

However, it can be reported that an application by his lawyer Ron Mansfield QC seeking Tamaki’s release until a breach of bail hearing on January 27 was unsuccessful.
