Te Tairāwhiti vaxxed up for Xmas

Te Tairāwhiti is making a last minute push to boost its collective resistance to Covid-19 before whānau flood home for Christmas.
Cara Lawton-Pewhairangi from Ngāti Porou Hauora says every resource is being put into the task.
“Keeping those lamps burning to try to get as many people as we can vaccinated right up to the top of the coast, to Pōtaka, and right down to Kaiti, and so is the rest of Tairāwhiti just for us to try to get a good go to make sure our pākeke, in the first instance, are vaccinated,” she says.
After an almost four-month lockdown, the Tāmaki Makaurau border opened today to those who have been double vaccinated or tested negative for Covid-19.
