The largest kaupapa Māori service for intellectually challenged people has built on its success getting its own clients vaccinated by releasing a video for tangata hauā still hesitant to roll up their sleeves.

Chief executive Tania Thomas says Te Rōpū Taurima got to 95 percent coverage by making complicated information easy to understand when it was delivered though kōrero and wānanga .

“Those video clips are videos of kaimahi, of tangata hauā we support, of a whānau member and her daughter who is in our service and it is easier for people to understand when they see people who look like them,” she says.
