Pūtea for Buttabean Motivation

Former boxer Dave “Buttabean” Letele has secured Health Ministry backing for his programme to improve the health and wellbeing of whānau in south Auckland.
Buttabean Motivation will receive $500,000 over two years.
Deborah Woodley, the deputy director-general for population health and prevention, says the new funding will enable BBM to deliver additional motivational support, coaching and exercise programmes; develop a coaching network; increase enrolment from groups and individuals at risk of long-term conditions; and bring in health screening, health coaching and medical support from primary health organisation Total Healthcare.
Dave Letele says it will allow Buttabean Motivation to reach more whānau.
“This is the future of health – communities wrapped around with clinicians and supported by the government,” he says.
