Kura kids drive translation boom

Things are looking up for Māori translation services, with more than 100 people training to become translators.
Te Taura Whiri i te reo Māori chief executive Ngahiwi Apanui says the commission has certified more than 70 translators in the past three years – the youngest just 18 and straight out of high school.
‘Those ones now have come out of kura kaupapa and university or are working and looking now to have their skills recognised and to become translators, he says.
Ngahiwi Apanui says there is a huge demand for translations.
