Covid advice confusing as whānau share isolation
An Auckland woman self-isolating because whānau members have Covid says advice from health authorities is confusing and inconsistent.
Hera says while she has so far tested negative, whānau members in other households including her mother have the coronavirus.
All were fully vaccinated, and they have not been able to identify the source of the infections.
She says each one is getting a call every day from a nurse, but it’s often not the same nurse, and the advice on things like the amount of time they need to isolate changes.
Her brother in one household has been taken into managed isolation and quarantine, but a sister in another household has been left in her home.
“It’s not making sense because her daughter is with her, who is negative and a mokopuna. they are both negative isolating in the lounge and she and another daughter in the bedroom with two babies,” Hera says.
