Promoters of a barging facility at Te Araroa says the project could create almost 500 jobs.
Te Araroa Barge Working Group will again try to hold a public meeting on Sunday after bad weather and flooding upset the previously scheduled hui.
It will discuss engineering reports on the feasibility of the project, as well as its economic, social and community benefits.
It is being compared with the aquaculture and harbour infrastructure project which is transforming Ōpōtiki.
