Wait extended for fully-vaxed Matatini
Te Matatini fans will have to wait another year before they get their fill of kapa haka.
The biennial Māori performing arts competition has been postponed until February 2023.
Chair Selwyn Parata says it will still be at Auckland’s Eden Park, and all participants and audience will have to be vaccinated and comply with any Covid regulations applicable at the time.
He says it’s the right thing to do when the country feels like it has been put on a war footing.
“Arm up and protect our families, our friends, our relations, our tūrangawaewae, and above all Aotearoa,” Mr Parata says.
