Covid cases hit the century
The number of new Covid cases crept into triple digits today, with 102 community cases reported; 94 in Auckland and eight in Waikato, all in the Te Awamutu area.
Seven of those have already been linked to known cases.
As at 10am, 40 cases in all remained unlinked.
Director General of Health Ashley Bloomfield says on the current trajectory there could be up to 180 cases a day within two to three weeks.
The number of these cases that ended up in hospital would depend on how many have been vaccinated, so he urged people to get the jab as soon as possible.
Deputy Prime Minister Grant Robertson says despite the record number of new community cases, Aotearoa is still in a strong position to battle Covid-19.
He says higher vaccination numbers should mean more people can be treated at home.
