PĀ ORA gives whānau fast Covid data

Māori public health organisation Hāpai Te Hauora is looking for funding to complete the rollout of a new online platform to help Māori iwi and communities access the latest Covid-19 updates.
Chief executive Selah Hart says PĀ ORA will allow whānau to find out about the locations of vaccination busses and pop-up vaccination and testing sites in real time.
It was built by Hāpai and Atamai Digital on the existing īHono platform, which was developed to connect Māori with iwi, hapū, hāpori, health and education services.
It’s covered by a Māori data sovereignty covenant, which means personal information will never be identifiable, sold or shared without consent.
The extra funding is needed to cover the cost of enabling PĀ ORA to notify whānau about the locations of interest as they arise, straight to their emails or mobile phones, and to allow the technology to be embedded in the websites of other Māori health providers.
