Community effort revives Kaikoura pāua fishery

The Kaikoura pāua fishery will reopen on December 1 for three months.
The fishery has been closed since the November 2016 earthquakes lifted the seabed.
Oceans and Fisheries Minister David Parker says the community came together to rebuild the fishery.
He says research and monitoring has shown pāua is recovering and can support some limited harvesting.
The area is also reopening for kina fishing with support from iwi and recreational fishers.
