Months more lockdown for Auckland
Auckland’s lockdown restrictions are set to ease gradually, but it could be early December before the city comes out of Level 3.
From midnight household bubbles will be able to mix, but only outdoors, with no more than two households at a time up to a maximum of 10 people.
Early childhood education and kōhanga reo will also reopen, with limits of groups of 10 in a bubble.
Beach, bowls, hunting and fishing are allowed, and funerals, tangihanga and weddings can be held with up to 10 people as well as staff.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern says getting more people vaccinated is key to the three-step transition plan.
Cabinet will review the situation weekly to see if it’s safe to move down a step, with phase 2 including an increase in gatherings to 25 as well as reopening of shops, libraries, pools and museums.
