Te Arawa relieved MIQ threat lifted

Te Arawa leaders have welcomed the Government’s decision to add an additional managed isolation and quarantine facility in Christchurch rather than Rotorua.
The city already has three MIQ hotels, and there was to be a protest on Saturday about the prospect of the Holiday Inn at the entrance to Te Whakarewarewa Village becoming the fourth.
Ngāti Whakaue kaumatua and Te Arawa COVID Hub chair Monty Morrison says ministers have listened to the concerns of the community about the unacceptable risk involved.
