Authorities optimistic end of delta outbreak close

There were 11 new community cases of Covid-19 confirmed today, bringing the delta outbreak to over 1000 cases – 990 in Auckland and 17 in Wellington.
Of those 550 have recovered.
Director of Public Health Caroline McElnay says as most of the current Covid-19 cases have been linked to existing cases, authorities feel optimistic they are getting on top of the outbreak.
The ban on quarantine-free travel from Australia has been extended for at least another eight weeks, but those who are stuck across the Tasman will be eligible to apply for the first tranche of about 3000 rooms in MIQ.
