On stage or online, Te Matatini is looking at ways the biannual kapa haka competition can continue if the pandemic drags on.

Next February’s event will go ahead as planned at Auckland’s Eden Park if all of Aotearoa is at alert level 1 by October 29.

If any area is at level 2 or higher on that date it will be delayed until April, and if the country is still at alert level 2 or higher on December 14 it will be postponed until February 2023, after a new round of regional competitions.

Chair Selwyn Parata says a committee is also looking at other options such as a virtual competition.
