Short clips pack emotional health
The project lead for a new campaign to strengthen emotional resilience in rangatahi Māori says the key to breaking through is keeping the kōrero relevant .
#ARO is an eight-week social media campaign run by Mauri Media, the Yeah.Nah.Cuz Collective and #ProtectOurWhakapapa.
Stevie Davis-Tana says it’s a response to the dire mental health and suicide statistics for young Māori.
The best way to reach those rangatahi may now be video content shared on social media.
“It’s about us trying to stay relevant and create content that is relevant to our rangatahi at the moment,” she says.
Short videos and other content from #ARO about issues like coping with stress and understanding emotional intelligence will be shared on Facebook and Instagram through the #ProtectOurWhakapapa platform.
