Anxious wait on Covid levels for small business

A Rotorua hairdresser is feeling the stress from the Covid alert levels.
Donald Hollingsworth from Mai Salon hopes the rest of the country outside Auckland will drop another level next week so he can get back to serving his clients, 80 percent of whom are Māori and Pasifika.
But his bank account is overdrawn and bills are stacking up.
"There's a bit of an emotion that gets involved because we work so hard to build out businesses up especially when you have a kaupapa to be a pro-Māori salon, you go 'wow, all this hard work,' and I understand we're still in Covid but it still affects you", Mr Hollingsworth says.
He says some clients have paid for services in advance to keep the salon afloat.
