TPK launched COVID site as performance criticised
Te Puni Kōkiri has launched a new COVID-19 website aimed at Māori.
Māori Development Minister Willie Jackson says with the main COVID-19.govt.nz website will remain the main source of trusted COVID-19 information for all New Zealanders, the tpk.govt.nz webpage will aim to include anything and everything Māori will need, from where you can get vaccinated and tested, to where you can get Whānau Ora help.
The portal links through to Karawhiua Māori vaccination campaign led by TPK and co-delivered by Te Hiringa Hauora (Health Promotion Agency) and supported by the Ministry of Health and the Unite Against COVID-19 teams.
Meanwhile, National says the Government has failed to use all the levers it has to increase vaccination among Māori and Pasifika.
Whānau Ora spokesperson Harete Hipango says in March it decided not to fund the Whānau Ora commissioning agencies to have a strategic role in the vaccination programme, despite advice from Te Puni Kōkiri they were well-positioned to support the vaccine rollout.
