Maori food supply network needed

Whānau Ora Minister Peeni Henare says the latest lockdown has sparked calls to bolster the Māori food network.
He says the fact many of the sites of interest in Tāmaki Makaurau has affected supply chains, especially in low socioeconomic areas.
"The Minister of Social Development and I sat on a call talking about the food network and there are already some established ones, for example, the City Mission and some of our marae are already hooked into that particular pipeline, but what became clear, and I think Rangimarie Hunia brought it up, is we need a Māori food network, one that is able to access that chain of supply but more importantly be able to distribute to our Māori communities," Mr Henare says.
He’s also pushing for more resources for whānau ora providers.
