HAKA haha tackles the cultural appropriation of the haka as it makes its way onto the world stage.
She says the short uses humour as a way to tackle what is a serious subject and to soften the blow of its message.
"It made it easier to kind of be like: "hey guys, if you are going to do the haka, perhaps you are going to come across a bit embarrassing and you will give us a laugh, but how do we get you to recognise you are just embarrassing yourself,'" Hunziker says.
HAKA haha is released today as part of the Loading Doc 2021 Tūmanako collection.
