Coromandel folk swab up

Hauraki iwi are waiting nervously to see if their weekend visitors from Devonport passed on the COVID-19 virus.
Riana Manuel from Korowai Hauora o Hauraki says testing stations at Coromandel and Thames were busy yesterday.
“We’re a small rural community. We’re all too aware of what the delta variant means, how infectious it can be, and so the sooner we find out the better. To that end we have been so lucky, our community has come out in force and they have really swabbed, they’ve got to the vaccination centre, and we are really grateful,” she says.
There were also record testing volumes in Auckland yesterday, with three high schools now on the list of more than 100 locations of interest.
In addition to Avondale College, where one of the first grouping the cluster worked, a student at Northcote College and one at Lynfield College have also tested positive.
Students and staff are being told to self-isolate at home for 14 days.
