Davis sets agenda for iwi chairs’ engagement
The Crown Māori Relations Minister says a new way of working with the Iwi Chairs Forum is having positive results.
Kelvin Davis and other ministers attended the forum in Whanganui on Friday.
He says while previously random ministers turned up to talk about random things in their portfolios, he has created a process of working on shared priorities in each of the Forum's five pou or action areas, with reports back on progress every quarter.
"That's what we've been doing for the last year or so and it's given the engagement between the crown and iwi chairs a lot more purpose, a lot more direction, and I think it's been very successful," he says.
Mr Davis says they are also working on a process of dealing with disputes.
