With three years to go until the next Olympics, Lisa Carrington is being invited to switch to waka ama.
The kayaker is heading back from Tokyo with three golds, adding to her haul from previous games which make her the country’s most-medalled Olympian.
Lara Collins from Waka Ama New Zealand says she’s an inspiration to anyone who gets in a canoe, kayak or waka ama.
"We're certainly really proud of her achievements. What she has done is outstanding and inspirational. If she ever wants to give it a go, we will find a seat for her for sure," she says.
In total New Zealand won 20 medals, its best-ever performance at an Olympic Games.
