COVID fears keep Trans Tasman rivals out of League tourney


New Zealand and Australia are taking a pass on the Rugby League World Cup because of COVID-19 concerns.
The Australian Rugby League Commission and New Zealand Rugby League have asked tournament organisers and the International Rugby League to postpone the tournament until 2022.
NZRL CEO Greg Peters says organisations can’t guarantee the safety and wellbeing of players.
He says there are stark differences between how the pandemic is being managed in the UK compared to Australasia, and the COVID-19 situation in the UK shows no sign of improving.
