Tech investor takes on Maori director

Former Te Wānanga o Aotearoa innovation group director Aisha Ross has joined New Zealand venture capital firm Hillfarrance as a general partner.
At the wānanga Mr Ross established Ahikōmako – the Centre of Māori Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Pākihi workshops for Māori small business, and the Kōkiri Māori technology accelerator for early stage ventures.
Hillfarrance has invested in two start-ups which have been through Kōkiri – Kwotimation, which offers a software as a service for tradespeople to offer online quotes, and The Granary, which is developing software to speed up content development.
Mr Ross says Māori are natural entrepreneurs but often struggle to attract capital to their businesses.
