Netflix veteran joins Kiwa board
Māori-led technology company Kiwa Digital has added to its board – a former Netflix executive to help accelerate growth.
Kiwa’s VoiceQ product was originally developed to assist in the dubbing of English language television programmes into te reo Māori, and it has since become the most widely adopted actor cueing software in the localization industry.
Chris Fetner is Netflix’s former head of localization vendor strategy, and he’s currently leading the Entertainment Globalization Association.
Kiwa managing director Steven Renata says he’s extremely well thought of among Kiwa’s client base and also among the partners with which it integrates its suite of tools.
Mr Fetner says while at the streaming giant he saw first-hand the impact VoiceQ had on the efficiency and quality of its dubbing workflows.
It became the default tool for most of its Los Angeles-based vendors which laid the foundation of the English dubbing industry.
He says with the massive demand for localization ahead and Kiwa’s innovation pace, the company still has a lot of room to grow.
